A1 Questions
·         Do you work or are you a student?
·         Do you have any brothers or sisters?
·         What do you do in your free time? What are your hobbies?
·         What do you do every day? What time do you get up / start work?
·         What is your job?
A2 Questions
·          Tell me about something you can do well. (Can you swim? Can you cook?)
·          How often do you usually see your friends? (What do you do together?)
·          Where do you live? Tell me about your home.
·          What are you going to do at the weekend? Talk about hopes and plans.
·          Have you been to another English-speaking country? Tell me about your visit.
(OR Tell me about an interesting place you have been to.) Talk about experiences
·         Tell me about something that you did with your friends/family recently.
Why did you enjoy it? Describe past events.
·         Tell me about the weather in your country. Which is your favourite season and why do you like it?

B1 Questions
·         What sort of television programmes do you like? Talk about TV and radio in your country.
·         How do you keep in touch with your friends and family (by phone/email)? How do you think communication might change in the future?
·         Tell me about the last film you saw at the cinema (or the last book you read). Would you recommend it?
·         Think about an interesting person you have met. What is he/she like? Describe their personality.
·         Have you ever been on a journey where something went wrong?
·         Imagine that I am a visitor to your country. What advice would you give me?




B2 Questions

·          Can you tell me about an object that is special for you? Why is it special?
·          Tell me about something you are good at. Talk about things you’re good at and how you became good at them.
·          Can you tell me about a famous landmark/person in your country? What do you know about it/them?
·          What do you use the internet for? Do you think it will ever replace books and newspapers? Why / why not?
·          If an English person wanted to learn your language, how should they do this and why?
·          Where do you see yourself in five years’ time? Talk about your future and describe personal hopes and expectations.

·          How has the way you learn English changed over the years?
 Describe experiences of language learning.
·          Do you think life for children today is easier or harder than it was for your parents / for you?
 Make comparisons and talk about changes.
·          Describe an advert you have seen. How effective do you think it is? Talk about advertising and marketing.
·          What image do other people have of your country, its food and its people? Do you think it is accurate?
·          Are you concerned about climate change? What evidence of it is there in your country?

C2 Questions

·         Can you summarize a recent news story from your country and explain the reactions of the public towards it.
·         What do you think distinguishes an advanced speaker of a language from a proficient speaker of a language?
·         Do you believe in the mantra – live each day like it’s your last? If you were to have a personal mantra what would it be?
·         If you could have been born in a different era, which would you choose and why?
·         How can you keep your English at this level without studying? How do you envisage your English ability in 10/20 years’ time?

  1. Excellent. I like the way CEFR and Assessment are clarified and illustrated (can-do statements and examples for each level). I'll take them to explain to my colleagues and students what CEFR mean.
