General Principles

We respect your experience and education

EF Workshop Leaders and Staff respect the professionalism and experience that being a DOET requires. DOETs understand their schools and educational context best, and DOETs can learn from each other. Participation in workshops is important.

Be Open-Minded

Workshop leaders ask that participants stay open-minded to new ideas and methods.

Workshops are held on the EF Campus in New York

Some participants may experience culture-shock. EF Staff is sympathetic to this issue.

Of course, the food and weather are different. DOET participants also may feel people are different. This includes the behavior of instructors or students, their attitudes about time, and their clothing.

Workshops are conducted in English

Participants must speak English. It is an important part of the workshop experience.

Teaching Methods

Workshops teach about methodologies such as the Communicative Method, Task-Based Learning and Blended Learning.

In addition, EF Workshop Leaders use these same methods. Participants will be asked to make presentations, solve problems, conduct research online, and even play games while speaking English.

Portfolios

All DOET Participants have a portfolio. Please keep all materials in your individual portfolios. Portfolios may be reviewed or copied by EF Workshop Leaders.

Using MY.EF.COM Calendar

All DOET participants have an individual password for accessing MY.EF.COM. DOET participants must use MY.EF.COM to review their weekly schedule of workshops.

Times, rooms and names of workshop leaders are listed there.

MY.EF.COM calendars will be available starting Tuesday 12/2/14 in the afternoon.

In addition, DOET participants will have access to parts of the MY.EF.COM online English-Language Learning program. This can be found under the ‘iLab’ tab.
